Made From Jordan

While leading the project Made From Jordan at Twelve Degrees, the team and I embarked on an inspiring journey of research, testing, and creativity to bring this remarkable concept to life. In this concept, we were able to transform agricultural waste into functional everyday products. This project was exhibited at Amman Design Week 2019 and Dubai Design Week 2022.

Made From Jordan draws inspiration from the traditional Arabic majlis, a gathering space known for its comfortable seating and communal atmosphere. Our vision was to reimagine this cultural symbol through an innovative lens, utilising agriculture waste to redefine the relationship between waste, design, and sustainability.

The development of this project involved an extensive research process to identify suitable agricultural waste materials that would be repurposed for furniture production. Through meticulous experimentation and collaboration with my team and with experts in sustainable materials, we successfully formulated a blend of agricultural waste. This novel material not only met our design requirements but also adhered to our ecological values by reducing the burden on landfills and promoting a circular economy.

The result is a lounge chair that combines functionality, aesthetics, and environmental consciousness. Each element of the chairs design has been thoroughly considered, from the ergonomics that ensures optimal comfort to showcase the beauty of Arabic heritage.
